Officials have announced that starting on April 1st night, Indian Air Force (IAF) planes will practise emergency landings on a section of the Srinagar-Jammu national highway located in Bijbehara, south Kashmir.

It’s anticipated that TEJAS light combat aircraft and Sukhoi fighters will take part. This is the Valley’s first time participating in such a drill. In an emergency, the IAF will use highways as a runway alternative. In Bijbehara, landings will take place on a 3.5 km stretch of highway.
