In January, India and Nepal participated in the joint military exercise Surya Kiran.

The Indian and Nepalese army have partnered to organize the Surya Kiran military exercise, which is scheduled for January 2024. This will be the most recent phase of the continuing partnership to improve the two countries’ military interoperability and operational capabilities.

The drill is planned to take place in Nepal during the first two weeks of January 2024. This comes after the 17th edition, which was held in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, India, from November 24 to December 7, 2023.

India will be represented by a battalion from the Gorkha Rifles in the next exercise. Although specifics about the unit have not yet been made public, the Nepalese contingent will also include a battalion from their army.
