During his four days in the US, General Manoj Pande, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), paid a visit to the Defence Innovation outfit (DIU), the US Army’s cutting-edge military innovation outfit located in San Francisco.

He spoke with Doug Beck, the DIU’s director and senior advisor to the secretary of defence, when he was there.

The only U.S. Department of Defence organisation solely dedicated to deploying and growing commercial technology throughout the armed forces to assist in resolving urgent issues and constructing a force for the future is the Defence Innovation Unit, or DIU.

Furthermore, the California National Guard was visited by the COAS as well.

The Indian Army wrote on social network X, “General Manoj Pande #COAS visited the Defence Innovation Unit (DIU), the forefront think tank.”

It also sought to strengthen bilateral development and collaboration in the fields of security and defence.

“The visit by #COAS epitomises shared values & interests that underpin the partnership between India and the United States, aimed at further enhancing bilateral cooperation & development in defence & security domains,” said the post.

In an effort to investigate potential for larger training engagements, COAS General Manoj Pande visited the Headquarters of 1 Corps of the US Army earlier on Friday. There, he was briefed on the Stryker Unit, Multi-Domain Task Force, and Special Forces Group.

The purpose of the Army Chief’s four-day official visit to the United States (February 13–16) was to discuss ways to improve bilateral relations and promote world peace with US Army Chief of Staff General Randy George.

This visit represents a significant advancement in the defence partnership between the US and India, demonstrating a shared goal to strengthen military cooperation, share strategic viewpoints on views of worldwide threats, and cooperate on force modernization and development.
