Following the Iranian drone attacks on Israeli territory in retaliation for the attack on its consulate in Syria, Israel requested that the UN Security Council call an urgent meeting to categorically denounce Iran and designate its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist group.

Israel’s permanent representative to the UN, Gilad Erdan, wrote to the president of the UN Security Council, “I confirm Israel’s request to convene a meeting of the Security Council immediately to unequivocally condemn Iran for these grave violations and to immediately act to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organisation.”

“I would like to convey my outrage regarding the attack against the six months following the horrific terror attack by Hamas on October 7,”

Israel also provided information about the Iranian attacks on Saturday, stating that over 200 ballistic, cruise, and UAV missiles were fired in the direction of the adversary nation.

“In blatant defiance of the UN Charter and international law, Iran has launched a frontal attack on Israel using more than 200 unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles from within its borders. Iran has openly boasted about the attack as well. It stated, “The attack is a serious and dangerous escalation.”

“As seen by today’s strike on Israel in defiance of Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015) and by speeding up its arms exports to Hezbollah in defiance of Security Council Resolution 1701, Iran is still breaking its international duties. Iran is responsible for creating instability for

Israel stated that Iran has breached the UN Charter and directly threatens global peace, and that the Security Council needs to confront this “Iranian threat.”

“The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps took control of a Portuguese civilian cargo ship before launching its attack. The attacks’ extraordinary severity and scope constitute a blatant disregard for international law, Israel’s sovereignty, and Security Council decisions. Iran flagrantly flouts Security Council decisions and the UN Charter, posing a direct threat to global peace. The letter stated that “it is now necessary for the Security Council to act decisively against the Iranian threat.”

A spokesman for the Israel Defence Forces, Daniel Hagari, stated on Saturday that Israel “intercepted a vast majority” of the Iranian strikes.

In answer to a question, Hagari stated that the IDF believes Iran has launched more than “200 different kinds” of drones, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and killer drones, CNN reported.

“Our planes are still in the air intercepting targets and we are ready for any threat that will come to Israel,” Hagari stated. He continued, “We will do everything we need, everything to defend the state of Israel.”
