MicroCon Vision, an Israeli business that is a part of Controp and the Rafael Group, and Paras Defence and Space Technologies, an Indian defence corporation, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The goal of this partnership is to improve domestic production capabilities while introducing cutting-edge drone camera technology to India at drastically lower prices.
As per the agreement, Paras Defence would be the sole provider of MicroCon’s drone cameras in India, including those with Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) seekers and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) payloads. MicroCon will be the sole provider of these technology to Paras Defence.
It is anticipated that the collaboration will result in a 50–60% reduction in the price of drone camera models, making them more accessible to commercial and military uses. The average price of an imported model is between ₹20 lakh and ₹40 lakh.
By integrating native content into these technologies, the partnership supports India’s “Make in India” campaign. In addition to increasing operational effectiveness in the military and civilian sectors, it will strengthen India’s defence independence. It is anticipated that advanced features like thermal vision, high-resolution imagery, and analytics driven by AI would strengthen surveillance capabilities.
This collaboration also shows the rising demand for drones in India, where the industry is expected to expand by roughly 17% by 2029 as a result of more applications in the industrial, homeland security, defence, and disaster management sectors.
