In a high-level meeting in Washington, DC, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, highlighting the growing strategic partnership between the US and India.
Jaishankar and Gabbard had a thorough conversation about the state of the world today and how to strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of intelligence sharing, counterterrorism, and international security.
It was a pleasure to meet US DNI @TulsiGabbard this afternoon in Washington, DC. Jaishankar wrote on X, “A good exchange on the global situation and our bilateral cooperation.”
In his description of the fruitful discussion, Jaishankar emphasized the significance of cooperation between the two nations in combating transnational threats including terrorism, drug trafficking, and organized crime. As a Hindu and former US Congresswoman from Hawaii, Gabbard has been instrumental in advancing Indo-US relations, particularly in the areas of intelligence and security collaboration.
Meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval during her recent trip to India further demonstrated the two countries’ shared commitment to fighting terrorism, bolstering cyber and maritime security, and tackling regional security issues.
In order to address global security concerns and strengthen the two democracies’ all-encompassing global strategic partnership, Jaishankar and Gabbard’s conversation is a part of a larger framework of ongoing bilateral initiatives, including the India-US Counter Terrorism Initiative and joint working groups.
