According to a press release from the Indian Navy, the Indonesian Navy extended a warm welcome to INS Sahyadri and INS Kolkata, the mission that is stationed in the South Eastern IOR.

Employees from the Indian and Indonesian navies will interact professionally in a variety of ways during the port call, including combined yoga sessions, sporting events, and cross-deck visits, all of which are intended to improve mutual collaboration and understanding between the two militaries.

In order to further strengthen the high level of interoperability already present between the two navies, the two ships will take part in an MPX at sea with the Indonesian Navy when the operational turnaround is complete.

The third indigenously designed and built stealth frigate of the Project-17 class is the INS Sahyadri, while the first indigenously designed and built stealth destroyer of the Project-15A class is the INS Kolkata. According to the statement, both ships were constructed at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. in Mumbai.

The relationship between India and Indonesia is getting stronger over time. In the South China Sea, Indo-Indonesia just wrapped up their joint exercise Samudra Shakti-23.

A Dornier Maritime Patrol Aircraft and the Anti Submarine Warfare Corvette INS Kavaratti participated in the sea phase that took place from May 17 to 19, 2023.

The KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda, which has a Panther helicopter and a CN-235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft as vital parts, was one of the Indonesian Navy’s assets. The interoperability between the two navies was improved through a series of intricate drills that included tactical movements, weapon firings, helicopter operations, air defence, and anti-submarine warfare exercises.

The harbour phase, which featured productive professional meetings, tabletop exercises, and sports exchanges, came before the sea phase.

Exercise Samudra Shakti-23’s success demonstrated India and Indonesia’s close relationship and underlined both fleets’ commitment to using cooperative engagements to advance peace and stability in the area.
