KEEL LAID FOR SECOND HANGOR-CLASS SUBMARINE OF PAKISTAN NAVY

The second Hangor-class submarine’s keel was laid by the Pakistani Navy at the Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) facilities.

The ceremony to lay the keel was held on February 14.

Speaking at the event, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, the Chief of the Naval Staff, expressed his delight in seeing the keel laying of a Hangor-class submarine at the Karachi Shipyard, which is working with China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co. Ltd (CSOC).

He praised the Pakistan Navy, Karachi Shipyard (KS&EW), CSOC, the Ministry of Defence Production, and their combined efforts and performance in building these submarines.

According to the defence agreement between China and Pakistan for the creation of eight HANGOR class submarines, Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry in China is currently developing four of these submarines.
