IN ATTACK ON THE RED SEA, A MISSILE HIT AN OIL TANKER IN INDIA

World News

According to the US State Department, on Friday, a missile fired into the Red Sea damaged a tanker flying the flag of Panama that was transporting crude oil to India.

The State Department reports that the M/T Pollux was struck on its port side by the missile fired from Yemen.

The British maritime security company Ambrey and the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency announced earlier on Friday that a tanker flying the Panamanian flag was reportedly struck 72 nautical miles (133 km) northwest of the port of Mokha, off Yemen.

According to reports, the vessel only suffered minimal damage. Ambrey stated, “The crew was reported safe and unharmed.”

A State Department official said, “This is just another example of the lawless attacks on international shipping, which continue after numerous joint and international statements calling the Houthis to cease.”
