From May 27-29, 2025, a high-level diplomatic visit to Saudi Arabia was undertaken by an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation headed by BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda. The purpose of the visit was to improve bilateral cooperation and reaffirm India’s strong anti-terrorism stance. The delegation met with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State Adel Al-Jubeir and other high-ranking officials in Riyadh. Members of the mission were Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, Rekha Sharma, Satnam Singh Sandhu, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, and former diplomat Harsh Shringla.
The Indian team praised Saudi Arabia’s anti-terrorist stance during their meeting with Minister Al-Jubeir. They also emphasized India’s zero tolerance policy and “new normal” approach to terrorism. The delegation advocated for increased collaboration between the two countries to counter the worldwide danger of terrorism and underlined India’s unwavering and determined stance, especially in the context of cross-border terrorism.
The group also met with Major General Abdulrahman Alharbi, Chair of the Saudi-India Friendship Committee, and Deputy Speaker Dr. Mishaal Al-Sulami in the Shura Council. The goal of these talks was to strengthen the strategic alliance between Saudi Arabia and India, which is based on growing mutual trust and interest. The Indian delegates discussed opportunities for additional bilateral cooperation while restating their country’s steadfast commitment to combating terrorism in all of its manifestations.
Following Operation Sindoor, which was initiated in reaction to the Pahalgam terror assault on April 22, 2025, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, this diplomatic outreach is a component of a larger operation. Following it, Indian forces killed more than 100 terrorists connected to organizations like Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Jaish-e-Mohammed by targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The visit by the all-party group is one of several foreign engagements intended to highlight India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and combat worldwide misconceptions.
The visit also featured discussions with government officials, corporate executives, and thought leaders, as well as interactions with the Indian community in Saudi Arabia, demonstrating the breadth of India’s diplomatic endeavors. The delegation’s actions demonstrated how India’s political spectrum is united on the subject of terrorism and emphasized the value of international cooperation in the battle against this worldwide threat.
The absence of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who was hospitalized in Kuwait owing to excessive heat but posted on social media to affirm his recovery, was a noteworthy aspect of the visit.
The delegation’s visit to Saudi Arabia aimed to further the two nations’ dynamic and strategic alliance while reaffirming India’s firm and unwavering stance against terrorism and expressing gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s supportive posture.
