At Milipol Paris 2025, MKU introduced the Netro AKSION Thermal Core, a major step toward improving global defense capabilities. The launch demonstrates MKU’s dedication to being a reliable, technologically advanced partner for European manufacturers of electro-optics.
MKU welcomed important guests, partners, defense delegations, and industry leaders and made it clear that this launch was an evolution in capacity rather than just a product introduction.
Ms. Prachi Gupta, CEO of Netro Optronics Division, emphasized, “We design not for laboratories, but for the battlefield, for the heroes who depend on absolute reliability.” “Delivering clarity, awareness, survivability, and decision advantage to those who defend is our mission at Netro.”
Thermal imaging has become essential to target acquisition, reconnaissance, and survival in today’s increasingly complicated, low-visibility, and urban battlefields. This need is directly addressed by the Netro AKSION Thermal Core, which combines multi-platform adaptability, sophisticated image intelligence, and small design to provide a decisive tactical edge.
AKSION’s 12 µm pixel pitch uncooled microbolometer sensor, which provides greater pixel density, clearer thermal images, and a longer detection range, is its central component. In order to provide precise imaging in a variety of operational circumstances, the core incorporates an Advanced Image Processing Suite with functions including contrast and brightness optimization, denoising, CLAHE, white balancing, edge enhancement, and bad pixel correction.
Instead of requiring complicated menu navigation, its Intuitive Human-Machine Interface (HMI) provides quick control over zoom, polarity reversal, NUC activation, and image optimization. Additional features include several visual output interfaces (USB, RGB24, YCbCr, HDMI, MIPI-DSI), Digital Zoom (up to 8x) with steady imaging, and Selectable Reticules with Zeroing Adjustability for weapon sight integration.
AKSION is designed to function in harsh climatic, vibrational, and electromagnetic settings and is certified to MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F, guaranteeing reliable performance where it counts most.
“Ion” represents energy, mobility, and transformation in India, whereas “Aks” denotes reflection or image,” Ms. Prachi Gupta clarified. “Together, AKSION symbolizes how we transform innovation into confidence, providing the soldier with what matters most: assurance in what they perceive.”
Target acquisition systems, situational awareness devices, unmanned aerial and ground systems, and platform-mounted surveillance solutions may all be seamlessly integrated with the AKSION Thermal Core thanks to its multi-platform deployment design.
This adaptability creates new opportunities for cooperation with European system integrators and OEMs, allowing them to include AKSION into various mission architectures. “AKSION creates new opportunities, alliances, and markets. “We anticipate collaborating closely with manufacturers and integrators to jointly develop next-generation capabilities,” Ms. Prachi Gupta stated.
The technological maturity and ecosystem strength that Netro Optronics has developed over the last ten years are symbolized by Netro AKSION. Many of the more than thirty electro-optics systems that Netro has successfully industrialized for soldier and platform applications are currently in use by armed forces across the globe. The Indian Armed Forces recently awarded the division a contract for more than 29,000 image-intensified weapon sights, demonstrating its reliability and demonstrated delivery capabilities.
MKU guarantees that every product is battle-tested, field-ready, and industrially scalable through its in-house optical and mechanical design, MIL-compliant environmental and photometry testing labs, and prototype-to-qualification frameworks.
MKU works with OEMs and integrators on the following projects using Build-to-Spec and Build-to-Print engagement models:
Integration of electronics, optics, and sensors; real-time image processing firmware; manufacturing and environmental certification; complete industrialization and lifetime support
Furthermore, MKU provides worldwide developers with execution and production support by: Particular lens assemblies and subsystems
• Sturdy kits and enclosures (with or without sensors)
• Solutions for integrating platforms and weapons
They continue to prioritize co-engineering, developing shared intellectual property, and expanding production to satisfy changing defense needs.
“Netro is prepared to support you from concept to capability for our partners here today, whether you build weapon sights, surveillance systems, unmanned platforms, or multi-sensor fusion technologies,” Ms. Prachi Gupta confirmed. “We are prepared to deliver the advantages of Indian engineering, rooted in manufacturing maturity, to deliver confidence globally, and we are open to deep technology collaboration.”
