On December 15, 2024, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar formally opened the Moldovan Embassy in New Delhi. An important step in improving India-Moldova diplomatic ties has been taken with this occasion.
Jaishankar underlined the significance of this new diplomatic presence during the ceremony, saying it represents India’s expanding interaction with other countries. He conveyed the hope that the embassy will act as a conduit for mutual understanding and collaboration between the two nations.
Recalling his first trip to India in October 2022, which prompted him to suggest opening an embassy, Deputy Prime Minister Popsoi emphasized his personal dedication to deepening relations with India. He pointed out that the embassy will improve bilateral cooperation, especially in fields like migration and energy.
Popsoi expressed excitement about future collaboration and prospects for Indian companies in Moldova, while both leaders emphasized the mutual respect and understanding that define India-Moldova relations.
