From May 29 to June 6, 2025, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh will travel to Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic for a major diplomatic visit with the goal of enhancing India’s diverse alliances with both Central Asian countries.
India’s continued dedication to strengthening strategic, economic, and cultural relations in the area is demonstrated by the visit. From May 29 to June 1, MoS Singh will lead the Indian team to the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where his schedule starts.
Because glacier protection is essential to the region’s water security and environmental sustainability, this conference is especially significant. Singh will have bilateral talks with Tajikistan’s foreign minister and other high-ranking officials when he is there, with an emphasis on extending collaboration in crucial fields including security, defense, and cross-cultural interaction. He will also interact with Tajikistan’s Indian diaspora, acknowledging their contribution to the development of interpersonal relationships.
MoS Singh will visit the Kyrgyz Republic after his stops in Tajikistan. He is expected to meet with the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister and other high-ranking officials in Bishkek to discuss ways to strengthen the two nations’ strategic alliance.
The Kyrgyz Republic has consistently backed India’s global aspirations, such as its desire for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council and its participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). In addition, Singh will engage with the Indian community in Kyrgyzstan during his visit, reiterating the government’s dedication to their well-being and fostering ties with the diaspora.
Singh’s leadership of the Indian team to the IX Meeting of the Global Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection Programme (GSLEP) Steering Committee, which is set for June 5–6 in Issyk–Kul, will be a major highlight of the Kyrgyz portion of the trip. India’s aggressive involvement in regional and international environmental projects, especially those pertaining to biodiversity and ecosystem preservation, is shown in this engagement.
Since establishing diplomatic ties with Tajikistan in 1992, India has maintained historical, cultural, and geopolitical ties with both Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. A strong collaboration has been developed through frequent high-level interactions, particularly in the fields of commerce, investment, security, and defense. Because of their shared worries about drug trafficking, terrorism, and extremism, security cooperation is a key component of their bilateral interactions.
It is anticipated that MoS Kirti Vardhan Singh’s visit will strengthen existing connections, advance shared interests, and create new opportunities for cooperation across a range of industries, thereby enhancing India’s position as a vital partner in Central Asia.
