OFFICIAL: U.S. DEFENCE FORCES SHOOTING DOWN IRANIAN DRONES TARGETING ISRAEL

According to a defence officer who spoke to media on Sunday, US forces have started shooting down Iranian drones that are headed towards Israel.

A senior US defence source told reporters, “US forces in the region continue to shoot down Iranian-launched drones targeting Israel in accordance with our ironclad commitment to Israel’s security.”

“Our forces remain postured to provide additional defensive support and to protect US forces operating in the region,” he stated.

As CNN reported, quoting a US official, US President Joe Biden and his national security team met again in the Situation Room after a short break, shortly after Iran began its strike on IsraelFollowing the apparent Israeli bombing of an Iranian consulate facility in Syria last week that resulted in the deaths of multiple senior Iranian officers, Iran pledged vengeance.

The White House had declared that Iran’s backing for Israel’s security was “ironclad” and acknowledged that the country had launched “an airborne attack” against Israel.

Speaking through a spokesperson for the US National Security Council, Adrienne Watson predicted that the attack would happen “over a number of hours” and that the US would back the Jewish state.

Late on Saturday, days after its Supreme Leader threatened retaliation for an airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria that claimed the lives of multiple generals, Iran launched drones towards Israel from its own land.
