CNN reported that Israel’s air defence system successfully stopped Saturday’s Iranian strike.

A CNN crew on the ground heard sirens sounding and explosions occurring while intercepts were taking place over Jerusalem.

“We are still seeing several intercepts in the skies above me, originating from various directions. A CNN reporter remarked, “It’s difficult to distinguish between an intercept and an incoming missile.”

“I’m hearing what sound like interceptions again—many, many detonations. Robertson said, “I am not hearing the sound of strikes.

“We’ve witnessed 20 to 30 perhaps intercepts,” he stated.

In response to Iranian strikes, the US remained “to shoot down Iranian-launched drones targeting Israel,” a US defence official stated on Sunday, according to CNN.

“In accordance with our ironclad commitment to Israel’s security, US forces in the region continue to shoot down Iranian-launched drones targeting Israel,” the official went on to say. “Our forces remain postured to provide additional defensive support and to protect US forces operating in the region.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel has been preparing for an Iranian direct strike for years and vowed to respond both offensively and defensively after Iran began drone and missile attacks on Israel.

“In recent times, and particularly in the last several weeks, Israel has been getting ready for an outright Iranian strike. We are prepared for every situation, both offensively and defensively, with our defensive systems in place. Israel is a powerful State. The IDF is powerful. The populace is robust. Netanyahu

Iran launched many drones and missiles against Israel in response for the airstrike on its consulate in Syria that claimed the lives of three senior generals, The Times of Israel said. This marked a significant uptick in the military campaign against Hamas in Gaza.

In a statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed that it had launched an attack on Israel. The IDF had earlier this month attacked a consular compound in Damascus, resulting in the deaths of numerous IRGC members, including two generals.

According to the IRGC, it will use dozens of drones and missiles—presumably cruise missiles—to strike particular targets in Israel.
