During the visit of Permanent Representatives of several countries to India on Sunday, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra welcomed them and spoke about bolstering multilateral cooperation to address today’s global concerns.

The Foreign Secretary brought up India’s proactive participation in the UN during the talks.

He also emphasised India’s efforts to promote the interests of the Global South.

“During their tour to India, Permanent Representatives of several countries to the UN were greeted by Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra. Increasing multilateral efforts to address today’s global concerns was a topic of discussion. FS emphasised India’s efforts to promote the interests of the Global South and its active participation at the UN,” spokeswoman for the Ministry of External Affairs Randhir Jaiswal wrote on X.

India’s increasing involvement in the UN is predicated on its unwavering dedication to multilateralism and communication as the means of accomplishing common objectives and tackling issues that the international community faces, such as those pertaining to sustainable development, poverty alleviation, climate change, and peacebuilding and peacekeeping, among other things.

According to a statement from the MEA, India firmly believes that the UN and the standards of international relations it has promoted continue to be the most effective ways to address the world’s problems today.
