PM Modi To Make Crucial Visit To The United States

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to visit the United States from February 12 to 13 to meet with President Trump. This will be their first encounter since Trump was inaugurated for his second term on January 20.

Modi will visit France from February 10 to 12, co-chairing the AI Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron, prior to his travel to the United States. He will also visit Cadarache, the location of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, in which India is a participant.

During their latest phone chat, the leaders discussed illegal immigration, security, and trade relations. Trump expressed confidence that India will “do the right thing” on illegal immigration. The news of Modi’s visit comes after about 100 Indian people were deported from the United States for entering the country illegally or overstaying their visas.

This will be PM Modi’s first visit to the United States since President Trump was inaugurated for his second term. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasised the significance of the visit, stating that it demonstrates the importance of India-US cooperation. He also underlined that the partnership had bipartisan backing in the United States.

During his visit, Modi will have bilateral meetings with Trump at both the limited and delegation levels. Senior US government officials are also scheduled to meet with Modi. Furthermore, Modi will meet with business executives and members of the Indian community.

Energy and military are key agenda items for Modi and Trump to address. Trade, investment, and security cooperation are anticipated to be key priorities.

It is predicted that Modi would be among the first world leaders to meet with Trump during his second administration. During Trump’s first term, he and Modi were close, but Trump has criticised India’s high tariffs. India has slashed rates on several items.
