Polish Envoy Ahead of Taking Over as EU Chairman: “Look Forward To Growing Cooperation With India”

Sebastian Domzalski, the Polish Charge d’Affaires to India, has stated that he is excited to expand collaboration with India as Poland takes over as EU president for the next six months. In recent remarks, he underlined that, given the geopolitical difficulties Europe is currently facing, developing ties with India will be a top priority during this time.

Domzalski emphasized the value of bilateral ties by characterizing India as Poland’s strategic ally in Asia. He pointed out that this connection was greatly aided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s August 2024 visit to Poland.

The Polish envoy went on to discuss Poland’s role as EU chair and emphasized that, given the current geopolitical climate and the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Warsaw’s top concern will be security. He went on to say that one of their primary objectives will be to support Ukraine.

During its EU presidency, Poland is expected to place a high priority on economic development. In an effort to strengthen ties between India and the EU, Domzalski stated intentions to talk about a possible free trade deal between the two.

“Security will also be a major part of Poland’s agenda during its presidency,” Domzalski said, referring to the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine. He reaffirmed that in order to overcome these obstacles, collaboration is required.

An early 2025 EU-India summit, which would further cement the cooperation and cover a range of topics of shared interest, such as trade, technology, and cultural exchanges, is what the Polish envoy expressed optimism for.

Domzalski’s comments demonstrate a dedication to strengthening ties between Poland and India and fostering cooperation within the larger EU framework at this crucial juncture.
