According to new Director General Jaiteerth Joshi, the joint Russian-Indian company BrahMos Aerospace intends to open a new business in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh State, 500 kilometers east of New Delhi, in late 2025 or early 2026.
“This new, cutting-edge production facility is currently under construction, and we hope to begin operations gradually by the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026. However, full-fledged operations could take some time because we need to make sure that a robust, secure system with all the latest conveniences is in place for smooth production and all associated tasks. Before creating the BrahMos-NG weapon variant in the future, this facility would first deploy the current BrahMos systems once it was fully operational,” he stated.
The business intends to soon execute a new BrahMos missile export agreement.
“A lot of nations have shown a keen interest in purchasing BrahMos. We are hopeful to sign our next export order and are making progress in our conversations with all interested parties.
“It is a tremendous accomplishment for us that the first shipment was delivered to the customer country in April 2024. We are still totally committed to delivering all of the missile batteries by the agreed-upon deadline. The BrahMos system has greatly satisfied our first customer country. The fearsome weapon will significantly expand the archipelago nation’s military and deterrent infrastructure once it is fully operational, according to Joshi.
The most recent BrahMos NG airborne supersonic missile has been designed and is in the development stage by BrahMos Aerospace.
“The project is moving along without any problems. Now that the new missile’s design blueprint has been completed, we may begin the development stage. The Su-30MKI air combat aircraft would be equipped with the first prototype.
“It will be an extremely small weapon with increased lethality, accuracy, speed, and firepower. It will be a lighter, more compact version of the current BrahMos. This “smart weapon” will initially be developed for airborne platforms, and it will then be modified for use on warships, submarines, and ground platforms. In addition to many other excellent technologies and characteristics, BrahMos-NG would have next-generation stealth, intelligent guidance, and avionics,” he stated.
The business is also interested in developing hypersonic missiles. “There is a chance for a hypersonic BrahMos derivative. But since we’re concentrating on the next-generation missile project right now, it might be a few years off. Hypersonic technology is now evolving globally, and keeping up with all the advancements that are taking place
