Rajnath Singh Meets Bilaterally With Tanzanian, Zambian, and Algerian Defense Ministers

On the sidelines of Aero India 2025, Tanzanian, Algerian, and Zambian defense ministers met bilaterally with Rajnath Singh on February 10, 2025.

Rajnath Singh met with Tanzania’s defense minister to talk about bilateral defense cooperation, including shipbuilding and dockyard development, as well as cross-border terrorism. The first Africa-India Maritime Exercise, which was co-hosted in April 2025, was welcomed by both parties.

Strengthening defense engagement across a range of domains was the goal of the meeting with the Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army of Algeria. In order to make the most of the current Memorandum of Understanding, they also talked about the potential for signing Terms of Reference for a Joint Commission in the Military Field.

Singh met with Zambia’s defense minister to discuss and improve bilateral defense cooperation, especially in UN peacekeeping and capacity building. In order to institutionalize a Joint Defense Cooperation Committee, both parties agreed to expedite the finalization of the Terms of Reference.
