Raksha Kavach Protection System Concept Revealed by DRDO at Aero India 2025

At Aero India 2025 in Bangalore, the Indian Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) unveiled the Raksha Kavach protection system.

Using current technologies, Raksha Kavach is a multi-layered, multi-domain protection system. According to a DRDO official, the system is still in the conceptual stage and needs more work before it can be put into use. Raksha Kavach might serve as India’s counterpart to Israel’s Iron Dome, according to the DRDO official.

Raksha Kavach uses a multi-layered defense system that includes electronic, blast, and ballistic shielding to safeguard soldiers, military assets, armored vehicles, and important defense complexes. Dr. P.S. Pandiyan, a DRDO scientist, claims that the system incorporates composite materials based on nanotechnology, which makes it lightweight, extremely durable, and capable of quickly neutralizing threats.

The system combines several counter-drone technologies into a mobile platform to provide operational flexibility and quick response. The launch of Raksha Kavach is evidence of the success of India’s defense innovation ecosystem, said Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace.

The Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System’s introduction improves India’s defense readiness against asymmetric threats, the DRDO’s Director General (Electronics & Communication System) added.
