As Defence Minister Rajnath Singh began the Operation Sindoor debate in Parliament, security forces scored a major victory today by killing three Pakistani terrorists in an encounter near Srinagar, two of whom were involved in the Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 innocent people in cold blood.
Suleman Shah, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, was recognized as the mastermind of the April 22 terror incident that shook the country. Security sources verified that he was one of the terrorists slain in this morning’s incident.
Today’s operation, Operation Mahadev, eliminated two more terrorists: Abu Hamza and Yasser. Yasir is also thought to be one of the Pahalgam murders. Today’s coordinated operation involved security troops from the Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Suleman was a Pakistan Army soldier who went by the name Hashim Moosa. In the aftermath of the terror incident in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley, the Jammu and Kashmir Police announced a Rs 20 lakh reward for anyone with information regarding Suleman.
The official X account of the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps previously said that security forces had initiated Operation Mahadev in Lidwas.
“Three terrorists have been killed in a heavy shootout. “The operation continues,” the Army stated in an update, stressing that it is not yet over.
All of the terrorists were reportedly “high-value” targets and international nationals.
According to sources, the security forces initiated the operation in Harwan’s Mulnar area after receiving intelligence. Reinforcements have been deployed to the region, and a combing operation is underway.
NDTV also obtained a photo of the terrorist stronghold that was targeted during Operation Mahadev. The pictures show many guns at the bunker, which is deep within a forest. During the confrontation, sources said that Carbine and AK-47 rifles, 17 rifle grenades, and other guns and ammo were recovered. Security forces believe the terrorists were plotting a major attack in the Union Territory.
