On January 30, 2025, Air Force Station Agra commemorated a major milestone by welcoming its first C-295 medium tactical transport aircraft. As the aircraft taxied onto the squadron grounds, a customary water cannon salute was performed, marking a proud moment for the station.
Along with other military and civilian officials, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Air Command, attended the ceremony.
It is anticipated that the C-295 aircraft will improve air operations in the area, especially in training paracommandos and special forces, allowing them to react to threats and emergencies with effectiveness.
It is ideal for operations around India’s northern frontiers because of its long-range missions, effective lifting capability, and contemporary onboard equipment. The introduction of the aircraft is a component of a larger plan in which Airbus is scheduled to provide 56 C-295 aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF), 40 of which will be built in India as part of the “Make in India” campaign.
