Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, has pledged to abolish naxalism from India by March 31, 2026. In a recent speech, he underlined that the combined efforts of the federal and state governments can achieve this goal, especially in regions like Chhattisgarh that are impacted by Left-Wing Extremism (LWE).
According to Shah, the fight against Naxalism has advanced significantly since 2019 and is now at a pivotal point. He emphasized that because of the government’s successful tactics, the issue has mostly been contained to particular areas.
According to the Union Home Minister, significant progress has been made in eliminating the Naxalites over the last seven months, with a large number of them having either been killed or given up. About 85% of Chhattisgarh’s LWE cadre strength has been eradicated, he said.
Shah presented a comprehensive strategy that includes boosting inter-state coordination, bolstering law enforcement, and advancing development initiatives. He asked state governments to keep a careful eye on development initiatives to make sure impacted populations benefit.
He emphasized the rehabilitation programs available to young people involved in naxalism and urged them to give up violence and integrate into society. Shah claimed that in the end, neither people nor communities gain anything from naxalism.
Shah emphasized the necessity of a last-ditch effort in operations against Naxalism in order to accomplish total eradication by the deadline.
