“We Missed You A Lot,” President Trump says as he embraces PM Modi upon his arrival at the White House.

US President Donald Trump greeted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the White House in Washington, D.C., on February 13, 2025. The two leaders gave each other a heartfelt hug in greeting.

Warm Greetings “We missed you, we missed you a lot” was Trump’s statement when he met Modi.

PM Modi was followed at the White House by the Indian delegation, which included External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and India’s Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra.

This was their first face-to-face encounter since January 20, 2025, when President Trump took office.

While Modi recognized Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan and linked it to India’s development objectives for the country’s 100th anniversary of independence in 2047, Trump stated that he expects “wonderful trade deals” with India. Trump added that India would be buying a lot of gas and oil from the United States.

Trump mentioned India as a nation with high import duties when he announced a reciprocal tariff policy just hours before the meeting.

Modi congratulated Trump on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians and said he was thrilled to see him back in the White House. Additionally, he recognized the chance to collaborate with Trump over the next four years to fortify the strategic alliance between the US and India.

It was anticipated that the two leaders would discuss ways to improve defense, energy, technology, infrastructure, and trade cooperation.

PM Modi and Donald Trump have had two phone conversations since November 2024. As PM Modi’s Special Envoy, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was present at Trump’s inauguration. EAM Jaishankar also attended the January 2025 meeting of the QUAD Foreign Ministers and met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the visit.

PM Modi met with US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Indian-origin entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz prior to his meeting with President Trump.

On Wednesday (local time), PM Modi arrived in the United States at Donald Trump’s invitation. He visited the United States.following the end of his three-day stay in France. PM Modi met with US Vice President JD Vance and his spouse, Usha Vance, while he was in France.
