On Tuesday, President To Lam of Vietnam met with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in New Delhi. The two leaders discussed ways to improve India and Vietnam’s all-encompassing strategic alliance.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the meeting’s main objectives were to strengthen bilateral relations and promote diversified cooperation. During his visit, President To Lam expressed excitement about his upcoming meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Indian dignitaries.
President To Lam landed in New Delhi earlier today as part of his three-day state visit to India. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai greeted him warmly at the airport.
The visit coincides with the tenth anniversary of India-Vietnam relations being elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, initially agreed upon during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Vietnam in 2016, according to the Ministry of External AffairsThe first spiritual stop on President To Lam’s itinerary was the Mahabodhi Temple in Bihar, where he prayed. When the Vietnamese leader arrived in Bodh Gaya, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary greeted him warmly. This gesture emphasized the long-standing cultural and civilizational ties between Vietnam and India.The Vietnamese President, who also holds the position of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee, will stay in India until May 7. Since taking office as president last month, this is his first State Visit to India.
On Wednesday, he will be welcomed ceremoniously at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He will then have extensive conversations with Prime Minister Modi about bilateral relations, regional dynamics, and global matters of mutual interest.
Along with other high-ranking Indian officials, President Droupadi Murmu will also meet with President To Lam. It is anticipated that the visit will provide bilateral relations new impetus and create new opportunities for collaboration in the strategic, economic, and cultural spheres.
President To Lam will go to Mumbai in addition to his formal meetings in New Delhi. There, he is expected to visit the National Stock Exchange, meet with the Maharashtra Governor and Chief Minister, and attend a business roundtable with the goal of fostering closer economic connections.
The historical and cultural ties between Vietnam and India have become stronger over time. The present visit is expected to strengthen this long-standing friendship and deepen cooperation in areas including commerce, investment, defense, and regional security, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
It is anticipated that the leaders’ interaction will strengthen the strong alliance and bring both countries closer to their common goals of stability, prosperity, and peace in the Indo-Pacific area.
