General Dhiraj Seth, Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army, concluded his official visit to Nepal from 16 to 19 August 2026. His arrival in Kathmandu on 16 August was marked by a warm reception from senior officials of the Nepali Army and representatives of the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, reflecting the close military and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
General Seth honored the courageous warriors who gave their lives for the country on August 17 by placing a wreath at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel.
After that, he went to the Nepali Army Headquarters, where he was given a formal Guard of Honor, demonstrating the army’s regard and respect for him.
General Seth encountered General Ashok Raj Sigdel, the Honorary General of the Indian Army and Chief of the Army Staff of the Nepali Army, during his activities.

General Seth sent the Nepali Army vehicles and medical supplies as a sign of India’s ongoing support for capability development. These resources are meant to strengthen humanitarian response and disaster preparedness capacities, enhancing India’s standing as a dependable ally during emergencies.
In a ceremony at Shital Niwas, the President of Nepal awarded General Seth the Honorary Rank of General of the Nepali Army in accordance with the long-standing custom between the two militaries. General Seth visited President Ram Chandra Paudel after the investiture, strengthening the practical and symbolic ties between the two countries.
General Seth paid a visit to the Nepali Army Command and Staff College in Shivapuri on August 18. Through his interactions with students and teachers, he promoted professional and academic exchanges. This interaction highlighted how crucial intellectual collaboration is to bolstering military institutions and expanding strategic viewpoints.
General Seth met with Nepal’s prime minister as a courtesy later that day. The long-standing alliance between India and Nepal was the main topic of discussion, with a focus on defense cooperation and common interests in regional peace and stability.
General Seth visited Pokhara on August 19 and spoke with Indian Army veterans who were living in Nepal. Speaking to the assembly, he conveyed his sincere gratitude for their outstanding work, steadfast commitment, and tremendous sacrifices made to protect India’s security and sovereignty. His remarks struck a deep chord with the veteran community, strengthening their long-lasting ties to the Indian Army
Veer Naris and gallantry winners were honored during the event in recognition of their achievements and sacrifices. Ex-servicemen received mobility devices with the goal of enhancing their well-being and quality of life.
General Seth also dedicated the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic at Kohalpur to the service of the veteran community. The establishment of this facility marks a significant milestone in enhancing healthcare support for veterans and their dependents in Nepal, reflecting India’s commitment to the welfare of its former soldiers.
General Seth’s visit has deepened collaboration in the areas of defense, security, humanitarian aid, and veteran welfare, strengthening the complex India-Nepal relationship.
