MoD signs ₹661.5-crore BrahMos deal, strengthens Indian Navy’s quest for near-total warship missile integration by 2030The Ministry of Defense has signed a contract worth ₹661.50 crore with BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL) for supply of advanced fire control systems and missile launchers for Indian Navy warships.
The contract was signed in New Delhi on October 6, 2026 under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) procurement category, Businessline reportedThe Rs 661.50 crore project requires a minimum of 68% indigenous content, highlighting the government’s emphasis on indigenously designed, developed and manufactured military equipment.The acquisition includes critical components of the BrahMos weapons ecosystem including fire control systems and launchers which enable warships to effectively deploy the missile in maritime strike missions.
The BrahMos missile continues to be the Indian Navy’s primary surface-to-air weapon for maritime strike operations and is already in use on several frontline warships.
The most recent acquisition is anticipated to improve fleet preparedness and fortify frontline naval combatants’ strike capabilities.
In addition to improving operations, the contract is expected to accelerate the indigenization of cutting-edge military technologies and create jobs over the following three years.
