The normalization of relations between China and India depends on long-term peace and stability along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), according to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
He cautioned that any disruption in border areas will unavoidably impact bilateral ties and emphasized that a stable border environment is necessary if the two countries’ broader relationship is to advance.
Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, Jaishankar stated that India has repeatedly told China that peace and tranquility along the border are necessary for a normal relationshipHe pointed out that since 2024, the situation along the LAC has greatly improved, with tensions declining and the relationship progressing toward more normalcy. In response to inquiries about Chinese investment, Jaishankar stated that as bilateral relations strengthen, India is looking into a number of options.Significant economic issues in the partnership were also brought up by the minister.
As he considered the decline in relations, Jaishankar recalled that between 1975 and 2020, when bilateral relations had grown significantly, no blood had been shed along the India-China border.
According to Jaishankar, the fallout from those incidents was evident in the years that followed, as relations between the two nations deteriorated and trust declined.
