During his recent visit to Bastar, Chhattisgarh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made important remarks about the government’s pledge to eradicate Maoism by March 2026. He stressed a multifaceted strategy to counter Maoist violence during his visit, which includes promoting surrender, apprehending violent offenders, and offering former Maoists rehabilitation.
By March 31, 2026, Shah promised that Chhattisgarh would be free of naxalism. He pointed out that significant strides had already been made by the government to lessen Maoist influence and violence in the area.
In his speech to Maoists who had turned themselves in, Shah said that murder was not a workable approach and that he would help with rehabilitation. To aid in their reintegration into society, this includes housing programs and livestock assistance.
Shah honoured the warriors who died at Amar Vatika in the struggle against Maoism. He recognised the importance of their sacrifices in reducing the influence of the Naxals in Bastar.
The Union Minister emphasised the value of both security and development. He brought up programs like the Bastar Olympics, which encourage sports among young people in the area and, in his opinion, have the potential to make it a more tranquil and affluent place.
The three main pillars of the government’s strategy are enticing Maoists to surrender, apprehending violent offenders, and decisively handling persistent threats. Shah commended the local administration for successfully putting these initiatives into practice during the previous 12 months.
