Sullivan and Doval Emphasise Technology Development: During their recent discussions in New Delhi, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval emphasised the need of collaborating on technology development to solve global concerns. This partnership is part of the ongoing United States-India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET), which seeks to deepen strategic connections between the two countries.
The conversations included a wide range of topics, including space technology, cybersecurity, biology, semiconductors, and renewable energy. Both presidents emphasised the need of developing a trustworthy and robust innovation foundation, acknowledging that collaboration is critical in a period of global competition.
Sullivan commended Doval’s concept of using innovative technology as a catalyst to improve US-India ties. The alliance has already made significant progress, including plans for a jointly produced satellite aimed at monitoring the Earth’s surface and measures to promote civil nuclear cooperation by reducing regulatory impediments.
The leaders voiced confidence in their long-term partnership across government, industry, and academia. They also talked on how to preserve technology transfer and guarantee that critical technologies don’t fall into the wrong hands, emphasising the importance of unified export control procedures.
These conversations demonstrate a determination to not just deepen bilateral ties, but also to collaborate with like-minded governments to address global concerns.
