ISRO launched two satellites as part of a mission to showcase space docking capabilities, marking a significant advancement for India’s space ambitions. In preparation for a historic maneuver, the satellites, SDX01 and SDX02, are now only 15 meters apart.
On its X handle, ISRO stated, “We can see each other more clearly at 15 meters, and we are only 50 feet away for an exciting handshake.”
As the satellites approached for their “exciting handshake,” the Indian space agency verified that they were in perfect shape. The spacecraft were launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre and launched into a 475-kilometer orbit by the PSLV-C60 launch vehicle.
If this mission is successful, India will become the fourth country to master these crucial technologies, which are necessary for the nation’s upcoming space initiatives, including lunar expeditions and the Bharatiya Antariksh Station.
