Polish firm WB Group and L&T sign an agreement to boost autonomous drone technology at Aero India 2025.

At Aero India 2025, the Polish defence contractor WB Group and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) via WB Group’s Indian joint venture, WB India.

WB India will focus on decentralised collaborative autonomy, a developing technology that enables several drones to work in tandem with minimum human interaction. The partnership is intended to result in next-generation autonomous technologies designed specifically for India’s military reconnaissance, surveillance, and operations requirements.

The deal underscores WB Group’s commitment to improving its position in India’s defence industry as demand for autonomous Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in military and security missions increases.

The cooperation seeks to provide collaborative autonomous solutions for unmanned aerial vehicles.

WB India will concentrate on decentralised collaborative autonomy, an emerging technology that enables numerous drones to work together with minimum human interaction.

The partnership is intended to result in cutting-edge autonomous systems for military reconnaissance, surveillance, and operations.

WB India CEO Ashish Sharma stated that the business is eager to collaborate with L&T to offer indigenous technology that would strengthen the capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces.

The alliance is consistent with the Indian government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat plan to increase domestic defence manufacture.

WB Group has displayed its FlyEye surveillance drones in India, sparking increased interest from the Indian Army.

WB Group is recognised as a global pioneer in combat-proven UAV technologies.

Other firms were also represented at Aero India 2025. TATA Elxsi and Garuda Aerospace have struck an agreement to construct a UAV hub dedicated to researching drone technology for Indian defence, agricultural, and smart city applications. Zen Technologies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with TXT Group to create improved pilot training solutions. HENSOLDT will also use the occasion to promote its “Make-in-India” campaign.
