PM Modi tells Vice President JD Vance that he is looking forward to President Trump’s visit to India later this year.

An important milestone in the continuous efforts to improve India-US relations was reached on April 21, 2025, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with US Vice President JD Vance in New Delhi.

PM Modi fondly recalled his recent trip to Washington, DC, and his fruitful talks with President Donald Trump during their meeting, highlighting how these discussions had established a clear path for furthering the two nations’ collaboration.

He emphasized the need of utilizing these national goals for mutual benefit by highlighting the similarities between India’s “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision and the United States’ “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) campaign.

PM Modi’s declaration of excitement for President Trump’s visit to India later this year—which is anticipated to coincide with the high-profile Quad Summit that India is scheduled to host in 2025—was a major highlight of the meeting.

Newly elected President Trump is anticipated to attend the summit, which will bring together leaders from the US, India, Australia, and Japan to further strengthen the strategic partnership in the Indo-Pacific area.

The leaders discussed the advancements in a number of areas of bilateral cooperation, with a focus on strategic technology, energy, and defense. They applauded the noteworthy progress in talks for a bilateral trade agreement between the United States and India that would benefit both parties. The talks have become more urgent due to recent US decisions to put reciprocal tariffs on a number of nations, including India.

Notably, the US has given most trading partners a 90-day window for further talks by temporarily lowering new tariff rates to 10%.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred course of action during the talks, which also covered a wide range of regional and international issues. In keeping with the friendliness and sincerity that underlie their friendship, PM Modi wished Vice President Vance and his family the very best throughout their visit to India.

In a subsequent post on social media, PM Modi reiterated his belief that the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership would be a defining partnership of the 21st century, benefiting not only the two nations but also contributing to global stability and prosperity.

Prior to President Trump’s expected visit, Vice President Vance’s maiden trip to India, which included stops in Jaipur and Agra, was viewed as a chance to establish a personal relationship as well as participate in diplomacy.

All things considered, the summit demonstrated the momentum in India-US relations, with both nations ready to deepen collaboration in important areas and take the lead in determining the Indo-Pacific’s future through platforms such as the Quad.
