Raghu Vamsi Aerospace Group, based in Hyderabad, scored a key milestone for India’s aerospace sector by showcasing a totally indigenous 40 KGF micro turbojet engine at the 55th International Paris Air Show, which runs from June 16 to 22, 2025.
This engine, created exclusively for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and cruise missiles, represents a significant step forward in Indian propulsion technology. It is part of a new family of four indigenous engines (14, 19, 25, and 40 KGF), all designed and manufactured wholly in India.
The 40 KGF engine was successfully tested at Raghu Vamsi’s Hyderabad plant in front of DRDO authorities, demonstrating its preparedness for operational deployment and ability to boost India’s self-reliance in defense technologies.
Raghu Vamsi’s display at the Paris Air Show also featured the Astra 100, a jet-powered, fixed-wing kamikaze UAV created under the deep-tech brand ARROBOT. The Astra 100, powered entirely by indigenous systems—including flight control, propulsion, and telemetry—has a range of 200 kilometers and speeds of up to 450
This UAV establishes a new standard for autonomous combat platforms in India, demonstrating the company’s dedication to innovation and self-sufficiency in crucial defense technologies.
Raghu Vamsi’s recent acquisition of WMT Precision LLC, a 40-year-old aerospace manufacturing firm based in Syracuse, USA that produces fuel nozzles for major global OEMs, has strengthened the company’s capabilities in critical aero engine components while also expanding its footprint in the North American market.
Raghu Vamsi’s engineering portfolio now extends beyond aerospace and defense with the acquisition of PMC Group (UK), a specialist in high-performance nickel alloy components for the oil and gas industry.
Raghu Vamsi is building a new 250,000 square foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Hardware Park in Hyderabad to meet its expanding product portfolio and global ambitions. The facility is slated to be operational by early 2026. This development represents the company’s aim for self-sufficient defense manufacturing, as well as its role in promoting technological innovation and economic growth in India’s aerospace sector.
