The SDR Manpack and the Compact Transhorizon Communication System (CTCS), two cutting-edge communication systems, have just undergone successful field trials at the Defence Electronics Application Laboratory (DEAL), Dehradun, marking an important milestone.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), District Level Implementation Committees (DLIC), and specialized DEAL technical teams worked closely together to conduct these trials in the difficult terrain of Joshimath, Uttarakhand.
Officers from various paramilitary forces in India, such as the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Border Security Force (BSF), Assam Rifles, Intelligence Bureau (IB), National Security Guard (NSG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and other related agencies, actively participated in the evaluation process.
Thoroughly validating the SDR Manpack and CTCS systems’ operational performance in real-world scenarios was the main goal of these experiments. In order to ensure that the systems were exposed to the entire range of difficulties they may face during real deployment, the tests were carefully planned to encompass a variety of terrains and operational situations.
The procedure involved close monitoring and verification of key performance metrics as specified in the Technical Documents (TDs) and Qualitative Requirements (QR). Both communication systems continuously met and occasionally surpassed the operating criteria set by the user, demonstrating remarkable robustness and reliability.
The technologies’ technical prowess and suitability for use in vital national security activities are both confirmed by this successful demonstration.
The successful completion of these field tests represents a major advancement in the domestic creation of mission-critical communication systems and demonstrates DRDO’s steadfast dedication to independence and technological innovation in the field of national security.
DEAL’s ability to provide state-of-the-art, dependable, and secure communication systems that are specifically suited to the requirements of India’s security forces is demonstrated by the SDR Manpack and CTCS’s strong performance under a variety of challenging circumstances.
It is anticipated that this accomplishment would further fortify the participating agencies’ operating capacities, improving their capacity to successfully address a variety of security issues around the country.
