DAC approves ₹5,150 Cr ‘Dharashakti’ Integrated EW System for Army Modernization.

The Dharashakthi Integrated Electronic Warfare (EW) system was designed to give the Indian Armed Forces superior capabilities in both communication (COM) and non-communication (Non-COM) electronic warfare. Its primary mission is to intercept, monitor, and disrupt adversary electronic transmissions while maintaining secure military communications.

Dharashakthi is designed for deployment in desert and plain terrains, including the Samaghat and Shatrughat sectors. This makes it appropriate for high-temperature, open-field operational theatres where sight and range are essential.

The platform includes customized modules for both COM and non-COM segments. The COM portion specializes in radio-frequency interception, analysis, and secure messaging, whereas the Non-COM component concentrates on radar signal detection, jamming, and electronic countermeasures.

Dharashakthi is outfitted with a modern Electro-Optical (EO) suite that includes high-resolution visual and infrared sensors. These allow for precision target acquisition, battlefield observation, and real-time threat assessment in various light and weather conditions.

Its radio technologies are designed to communicate across great distances with minimal interference. These are supplemented with electronic counter-countermeasure (ECCM) functions that help to keep links secure in the face of electronic attack.

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) approved a production order for Dharashakthi worth ₹5,150 crore. This approval represents a strategic investment in indigenous EW capacity, complementing the government’s emphasis on self-reliance in defense technologies.
