The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully executed the release trials of the Long-Range Glide Bomb (LRGB) ‘Gaurav’ from the Su-30 MKI aircraft on April 8-10, 2025. During the testing, the weapon was incorporated into many stations with various warhead configurations, including a land target on the island. The experiments successfully proved a range of close to 100 km with pinpoint precision.
LRGB ‘Gaurav’ is a 1,000 kg class glide bomb conceived and developed in-house by Research Centre Imarat, Armament Research and Development Establishment, and Integrated Test Range in Chandipur. Senior personnel from DRDO and the Indian Air Force (IAF) took part in and assessed the testing.
Adani Defence Systems & Technologies, Bharat Forge, and numerous MSMEs provided help for the system’s development and production. The testing pave the stage for the weapon’s admission into the IAF. The Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification and the Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance both contributed to certification and quality assurance.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO, IAF, and industry on the successful development trials of ‘Gaurav’. He stated that the development of LRGB will greatly increase the Armed Forces’ capabilities.
