Following the unfortunate accident of an Indian Air Force TEJAS fighter plane during the Dubai Air Show, the United Arab Emirates has sincerely conveyed its support with India. According to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and UAE officials, Wing Commander Namansh Syal, the pilot, died in the accident.
The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the occurrence as extremely terrible and sent its sincere condolences to the pilot’s family, the Indian government, and the Indian people.
During an airborne demonstration at the Dubai Air Show, which is located close to Al Maktoum International Airport, the crash happened in the afternoon on Friday, November 20, 2025.
Following a negative G-force manoeuvre, the TEJAS jet suddenly lost altitude; the pilot was unable to recover, and the aircraft plummeted and caught fire. As the jet crashed, spectators saw billowing black smoke.
In a statement, the IAF expressed profound sympathy for the deaths and fully supported the grieving family. To determine the exact reason of the accident, a court of inquiry has been established. In less than two years, the TEJAS aircraft has been involved in two crashes.
In addition to publicly expressing its heartfelt condolences and support for India during this trying time, the UAE government promptly dispatched rescue and firefighting services to the disaster scene. The UAE’s action highlights the two countries’ strong bonds and respect for one another, particularly in the defence and aviation industries.
All things considered, the crash of the domestically built HAL TEJAS fighter jet at the Dubai Air Show has caused deep sadness in both India and the UAE, underscoring the dangers military pilots face during such high-profile international displays and the significance of continuing safety investigations to avert tragedies in the future.
