Following Pakistani troops opening fire along the LoC in Poonch, the Indian Army retaliates.

Around 11 a.m. on Sunday, Pakistani troops opened fire on an Indian post along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, prompting the Indian Army to retaliate.

According to army officials, there were no casualties on the Indian side and the Indian Army responded to the firing in a proper manner.

The incident happened after the Army reiterated that, despite sporadic instances of stray firing, the ceasefire agreement along the LoC is still in place.

The Army denied reports of a ceasefire violation along the Line of Control on February 13, claiming that the truce is being maintained in accordance with the agreement between the Indian and Pakistani armies.

The Indian Army claims that the Line of Control ceasefire is still in place and being observed.

in accordance with the two armies’ understanding.
They added that there hasn’t been a heavy-calibre weapon exchange and that tension brought on by sporadic cross-LoC firing incidents and a suspected IED blast is being handled by the established mechanism.

Indian security forces, including the Romeo Force and the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG), have begun a comprehensive search operation in Mendhar town, Poonch, which is heavily forested. After intelligence reports indicated that suspicious people, potentially terrorists, were moving through the area, the operation was launched.

Army officials attested to the fact that the Indian forces reacted suitably to the cross-border small arms fire. The ceasefire agreement along the LoC, which was reaffirmed by India and Pakistan in February 2021, is still in effect in spite of these incidents. Since the ceasefire agreement was renewed, there have been fewer ceasefire violations along the borders in Jammu and Kashmir.
