PM Modi Greets the Emir of Qatar at the Airport with a Special Motion

On February 17, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

Given the close diplomatic ties between India and Qatar, this gesture is noteworthy. By calling the Emir his “brother,” Modi emphasized the strong bond between the two leaders and their nations.

At PM Modi’s invitation, the Emir is making a two-day state visit, his second official trip to India since his first in March 2015. Sheikh Tamim is expected to meet with President Droupadi Murmu during this visit and discuss a range of subjects with PM Modi, such as trade, investment, energy, and technology.

The attendance of a prominent delegation from Qatar, comprising ministersand corporate executives, demonstrates Qatar’s desire to strengthen its economic ties with India.

Strengthening bilateral ties and investigating new prospects in areas like energy, infrastructure, and digital innovation are the goals of this meeting. Mutual respect and cooperation in a variety of fields have been hallmarks of India and Qatar’s historical ties.
