An important step in strengthening the growing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UAE was taken with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s visit to the United Arab Emirates.
Misri conducted a mid-year review of bilateral relations with Reem Al Hashimy, the UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, while he was in Abu Dhabi. Reflecting the expanding scope and aspirations of their strategic alliances, both parties evaluated the present status of their collaboration and looked into ways to strengthen it going forward.
Along with this crucial meeting, Misri also spoke with Ali Alnuaim, the chairman of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates’ Defense, Interior, and Foreign Affairs Committee. Importantly, the discussions reiterated both countries’ shared commitment to fighting terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations while also focusing on strengthening legislative collaboration. With both India and the UAE highlighting the necessity of coordinated action against terrorism, this shared resolve was especially pertinent in light of recent regional security difficulties.
A meeting with UAE Minister of Tolerance Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan was also on Misri’s schedule. Here, he conveyed his appreciation for the kind welcome given to the Indian group, which comprised representatives from all of the main political parties. Both sides emphasized these values as the cornerstone of their strong bilateral engagement, and the talks emphasized the common ethos of harmony and tolerance that defines India-UAE relations.
The recent successful journey of a high-level, all-party Indian legislative delegation to the United Arab Emirates, which centered on fostering mutual understanding and bolstering collaboration in the fight against terrorism, provided additional backdrop for the visit. Sheikh Nahyan and Ali Alnuaim, among other Emirati officials, reaffirmed their support for India, especially in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist incident on April 22, and promised ongoing assistance in combating cross-border terrorism and promoting regional stability.
The framework for stronger and more resilient bilateral ties in the years to come was laid by Vikram Misri’s meetings in the United Arab Emirates, which not only examined the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership but also reaffirmed the two nations’ shared priorities of security, parliamentary cooperation, and cultural harmony.
