According to The Print, Indian drone manufacturer IG Defence has declared that it is in advanced talks with Gulf nations on the potential export of their KAL drone, a Shahed-class long-range, one-way assault device.
The technology, designed for deep-penetration missions against high-value strategic targets, was introduced in May at the North Tech Symposium in Prayagraj, the business revealed in a statement on Wednesday.
Although they declined to comment on whether the Indian military forces have undertaken experiments, officials emphasized that the KAL drone is fully designed and tested, citing protocol not to release such information.India’s Armed Forces
They emphasized that the system represents a major advancement in domestic defense technology since it was completely created and developed in India.
The KAL is a member of the new class of long-range, one-way attack drones of the Shahed-136 type. By combining greater range, precision strike
capability, affordability, and ease of operation, this category has revolutionized modern warfare. The KAL is positioned as an affordable option for contemporary strike operations thanks to its operational range of up to 1,000 kilometers, endurance of seven to eight hours, and capacity to carry a 50-kilogram payload.
The strategic significance of inexpensive, precision-guided unmanned systems that can function deep within contested areas has been reinforced by continuing regional conflicts, according to IG Defence.
These devices drastically cut the cost of long-range precision strike operations while minimizing dangers to humans. In order to satisfy changing military demands, the KAL combines long endurance, autonomous navigation, and precise targeting into a single platformThe Shahed drone was first developed by Iran, but now every major state has produced its own version, according to the firm. The United States has created the LUCAS, whereas Russia operates the Geran-2. India’s desire to improve domestic skills and lessen dependency on imports is reflected in its participation into this field.
.Shahed-like drones are being developed by three Indian companies, including IG Defence. In addition, Lucknow-based Hoverit has built the Divyastra in both MK-1 and MK-2 versions, while Bangalore-based NewSpace Research and Technologies has created the Sheshnaag-150. When taken as a whole, these projects demonstrate India’s expanding autonomous strike technology ecosystem.History of Armed Forces
According to the business, there will be a significant increase in demand for sovereign, reasonably priced, and quickly deployable unmanned systems worldwide as Gulf countries and other strategic areas increase their investments in autonomous strike capabilities. IG Defence thinks the KAL establishes India as a reliable supplier of domestic defense technologies to friendly foreign countries, subject to export permissions and regulatory clearances from the Indian government.
IG Defense has created a wide range of unmanned devices outside of the KAL. Interceptor drones, FPV combat drones, autonomous UAVs, counter-UAS systems, AI-enabled swarm technologies, electronic warfare solutions, tactical robots, and logistics drones are among them. The company’s goal to become a comprehensive supplier of cutting-edge defense technologies is evident in the scope of its development.
The founder and CEO of IG Defence, Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, commented on the development, saying that autonomous, long-range precision attack weapons will progressively characterize the future battlefield.
According to him, the KAL is a significant turning point in India’s progress toward being self-sufficient in cutting-edge defense technologies and a testament to the nation’s capacity to create top-notch domestic systems.
