On December 19, 2024, a clash between security forces and militants took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam area. After receiving information on the presence of suspected terrorists, security authorities launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Kadder neighborhood of Behibagh in the early hours of the morning. The militants opened fire as the troops drew closer, sparking a fierce shootout.
The encounter resulted in the deaths of five terrorists and the injuries and subsequent hospitalization of two security personnel.
According to the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, specific intelligence about terrorist activity in the region served as the basis for the operation. The terrorists opened fire on the military after they were confronted by security personnel, and the troops retaliated.
Although their bodies have not yet been recovered from the scene, security forces now think that all five of the terrorists involved have been neutralized.
