On the fringes of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Defense Ministers’ Meeting in Qingdao, China, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met with his Chinese counterpart, Admiral Dong Jun.

Singh emphasized the significance of both countries preserving the present positive momentum in their bilateral relationship during their conversation and warned against adding new complications that might impede advancement. The two ministers discussed a range of topics related to India-China relations in a positive and proactive manner.

Singh was pleased that the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra had resumed after a nearly six-year break, indicating a positive step toward improved people-to-people communication between the two nations. “Held talks with Admiral Dong Jun, the Defense Minister of China, on the sidelines of SCO Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Qingdao,” Singh wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Admiral Dong Jun welcomed Singh when he arrived in China on Thursday to attend the SCO Defence Ministers’ meeting. Prior to the official proceedings, the two leaders and other dignitaries also posed for a group photo.

In a related diplomatic development, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met in Beijing on June 23. Recent developments in India-China relations were the main topic of discussion, which also emphasized the need to encourage more people-to-people interactions and the general expansion of bilateral ties.

In order to preserve peace and stability in the area, NSA Doval underlined how urgent it is to combat terrorism in all of its manifestations. A wide range of bilateral, regional, and international topics of shared interest were also discussed.

In a statement published on X, Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), confirmed the meeting, writing, “NSA Ajit Doval met Chinese FM Wang Yi in Beijing today.” Bilateral, regional, and global issues of shared interest were the main topics of conversation.

With a focus on communication, collaboration, and understanding, these high-level interactions between China and India demonstrate a shared commitment to advancing and stabilizing their relationship in the face of complicated regional dynamics.
