The “See Through Armour” (STA) or 360° Armoured Battle Interface (ABI) is a sophisticated 360-degree situational awareness system for armored vehicles created by Big Bang Boom Solutions (BBBS), an Indian deep-tech defense start-up. During both day and night operations, the system—also known as YUDHIKSHANA in some contexts—is intended to give vehicle operators a thorough understanding of their surroundings in real time.
The integration of several RGB and thermal cameras positioned thoughtfully throughout the armored vehicle is the basis of the STA system. These cameras provide the crew with high-resolution video feeds that are smoothly stitched and delivered to them via mixed reality (MR) glasses or a heads-up display (HUD). The video feeds are 2048×1536 pixels for RGB and 640×512 pixels for infrared imaging.
The team can keep a close eye on their surroundings without putting themselves in danger because to this setup’s latency-free, panoramic 360-degree vision.
The device can identify at 31 meters, detect at 250 meters, and recognize at 63 meters for humans. The corresponding ranges for cars are 88 meters for identification, 175 meters for recognition, and 720 meters for detection.
The device ensures functionality in a variety of battle conditions by operating dependably in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 45°C.
To further improve tactical decision-making, the situational awareness feed can be displayed on a glass screen within the vehicle or on a helmet visor. It can be used to mark the distances between objects and identify friendly units.
Without requiring major changes to the vehicle, the ABI can be easily integrated into current armored platforms to increase mission effectiveness.
The innovation from BBBS tackles the pressing demand for improved operational efficacy and crew safety in contemporary armored combat. The device greatly lowers blind spots and the chance of ambushes by providing real-time, all-around view, which also facilitates quick danger assessment and reaction.
