Following ATAGS, Bharat Forge Offers New Towed Gun System To Meet Indian Army Requirements.

Following the development of the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), Bharat Forge has produced a new Towed Gun System to satisfy the needs of the Indian Army. This action is part of Bharat Forge’s continuous efforts to strengthen India’s domestic military capabilities and is consistent with the government’s “Make in India” strategy.

Neelesh Tungar, CEO of Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited, affirmed that Bharat Forge’s new product is distinct and not based on Israeli ideas. This system intends to meet the Indian Army’s requirements for upgraded artillery capability.

The ATAGS, developed in partnership with TATA Advanced Systems and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is a 155mm/52 calibre towed artillery system distinguished by its long range of over 48 km and high rate of fire. Bharat Forge has obtained substantial contracts for this system, showing that it is ready for deployment following thorough testing on diverse terrains.

The launch of the new towed gun system demonstrates Bharat Forge’s commitment to self-sufficiency in military manufacture. The business is also looking into export potential, since the ATAGS has already sparked interest in overseas markets, including a successful deployment in Armenia.

Tungar expressed confidence about India’s current military reforms and how they may strengthen indigenous manufacturing capabilities. The strategic goal is not just to address existing military requirements, but also to position India as a legitimate player in the global defence industry.

This breakthrough is a crucial step towards improving India’s artillery capability and fostering local military industry.
