In Poonch, the Indian Army retaliates after the Pakistan Army violates the ceasefire along the LoC.

In Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, tensions increased along the Line of Control (LoC) after the Pakistan Army broke a ceasefire agreement on April 1, 2025. Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian positions during the violation in the Krishna Ghati (KG) sector. The Nangi Tekri Battalion of the Indian Army, which is a component of the Krishna Ghati Brigade, responded by launching a fierce counteroffensive against the aggressors.

According to reports, the Pakistan Army suffered heavy losses as a result of the Indian Army’s counteroffensive; four to five Pakistani infiltrators are said to have been killed in the exchange. But as of yet, neither side has formally confirmed these casualties. No equipment or personnel losses were reported by the Indian Army.

All day long, the situation remained tense, with reports of sporadic firing. To guarantee preparedness for future incursions, the Indian Army remained fully deployed in the region. The ongoing cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan are highlighted by this incident, which comes after a string of recent violations and skirmishes along the LoC.

Security forces in the area stepped up operations against suspected terrorist activities in addition to violating the ceasefire. Joint operations by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were initiated to identify and eliminate any threats in the area after a gunfight with terrorists in Kathua on March 31.
