India is on high alert as Bangladesh deploys Turkish drones close to its border: sources

In response to rumors of the use of Turkish-made Bayraktar-TB2 drones, particularly near West Bengal, India has increased its border surveillance with Bangladesh. This choice is made in light of intelligence showing an increase in terrorist activity along the border, especially in the wake of the political unrest that followed the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League government.

The development coincides with a rise in border-related terrorism. Bayraktar-TB2 drones are launched by Bangladesh close to West Bengal. India may decide to use counterdrone operations as part of its increased vigilance.

According to reports, the 67th Army of Bangladesh has deployed Bayraktar-TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance tasks. Six of the twelve drones that were purchased earlier this year are currently in use.

India is on high alert and has increased border monitoring in response to this deployment. To combat possible threats from the recently deployed UAVs, the Indian military is thinking about implementing its own cutting-edge drone systems, such the Heron TP.

According to intelligence assessments, there has been a rise in extremist activity along the border, especially in the wake of Bangladesh’s political unrest following the removal of the former prime minister.

Despite Bangladesh’s assertions that the drone deployment is defensive, India cannot ignore its strategic importance. There are worries about possible surveillance and strike capabilities that could be utilized against India given the presence of sophisticated UAVs in such a critical area.

As both countries keep a careful eye on events along their shared border, the situation is still unstable. In response to any new dangers arising from the drone deployments, India’s military officials have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining national security and said they are ready to take the appropriate countermeasures.
