In a recent speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited the Indian diaspora in Kuwait to take part in the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD), which will take place in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from January 8–10, 2025. This invitation was made at a momentous occasion known as “Hala Modi,” which commemorated the contributions made by the Indian population to Kuwait’s progress and emphasized the historical connections between India and Kuwait. It was also the first time an Indian prime minister had visited Kuwait in forty-three years.
In his speech, PM Modi commended the efforts and accomplishments of Indians in Kuwait, highlighting their crucial contributions to a range of industries, including as construction, healthcare, and education. He underlined that the Indian population is essential to Kuwait’s labor force and is also vital to the development of India-Kuwait ties. Through programs like the E-Migrate site, the Prime Minister underlined India’s commitment to guaranteeing the welfare of Indian workers overseas and thanked the Kuwaiti leadership for their support of the Indian community.
Every year on January 9, the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is observed to honor the achievements made by Indians living abroad. The 2024 event’s theme, “Diaspora: Reliable Partners for India’s Progress in Amrit Kaal,” would emphasize strengthening ties with the international community.
